The Issue

Resettlement services are vital first steps to the successful integration of refugee families into Australian communities. Although a litany of government and non-government organisations exist, barriers to service provision still exist.

There are numerous existing organisations that provide a range of services to refugees and asylum seekers, including employment, education, health and legal services. You can find out more about accessing these services here.

While these services exist and cover a broad range of issues in regard to refugee resettlement, the longevity of such programs are at risk due to funding cuts. Welcoming communities aims to work directly with the private and public secure to secure funding to not only ensure the longevity of these programs, but to expand their capacity to ensure that their services are accessible to everyone regardless of geographic location, financial situation or language barriers.
